Commercial Property Accountant – Burnaby

Are you a motivated self-starter who has a strong background in commercial property accounting? We are working with one of the world's fastest-growing commercial Real Estate firms to add a Commercial Property Accountant to join their impressive Burnaby office. This diverse organization offers a range of services to owners and occupiers, including investment sales, leasing, advisory, management and financing.

Forming part of an established team and working with an impressive client base, you will be responsible for managing the accounting activities for over 500,000 square feet of high specification office space.

You Will:

  • Provide full cycle accounting coverage including accounts payable, accounts receivable and maintaining the general ledger

  • Ensure accounts payable invoices are accurately billed, coded, and processed for payment on a timely basis, including preauthorized payment and batch payments

  • Reconcile supplier accounts to accounts payable system and process necessary corrections and/or adjustments

  • Generate and ensure timely preparation of annual tenant billings in accordance lease terms.

  • Update minimum rent roll report annually and as required

  • Assist the Property Manager to answer tenant enquiries as to bases for rent charges as well as from time to time resolve tenant disputes with respect to rent charges

  • Prepare additional rent calculations in accordance to annual operating expense budgets and lease terms

  • Make deposits on timely basis and process rental payments received from tenants including direct deposit rents in Yardi and QuickBooks

  • Process late rent payment charges

  • Oversee preparation of tenant arrears reports

  • Prepare Chargebacks to tenants

  • Prepare and assist with bank reconciliations

You Have:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in commercial property accounting

  • A bachelor’s degree or diploma in accounting

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain good relationships with internal teams, tenants and suppliers

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • A keen eye for detail and the abilities to multitask, and complete tasks accurately in a time sensitive environment

  • Experience with MS Software, Yardi Voyager, QuickBooks
